HURRICANE MATTHEW UPDATE

October 11, 2016 6:00 pm

This will be our last Hurricane Matthew update. We are down to just a few outages and we have crews working on them. My hat goes off to all our employees who worked so diligently to get the power restored.

We still have Cumberland Island without power and OREMC crews as well as contract crews will be on the job bright and early in the morning.

Our offices will resume normal hours tomorrow open 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. !

We started this day with around 100 outages (approx. 500 customers without power). Several of these outages involves broken poles, downed power lines, etc. that will take some time to restore. We’re still confident all services, with the exception of Cumberland Island, will be restored today. All outside contractors and EMC employees are diligently working. Please continue to monitor the progress of the outage restoration on our website www.oremc.com.

HURRICANE MATTHEW UPDATE

Well over 100 outages (1,500-2,000 meters) were restored today by our hardworking crews. We have several broken poles and downed power lines remaining and these will take some time to repair.

We will be checking (reading from the office) all meters tonight to see if we have any outages that may not have been reported. Pending an enormous amount that we don’t know about, I am very confident that everything but Cumberland Island will be repaired tomorrow. Please continue to monitor the progress of the outage restoration on our website www.oremc.com.

All offices will once again be closed tomorrow to enable our employees to dedicate their efforts to restoring our remaining members’ electrical service.

Next update 10:00 am.

HURRICANE MATTHEW UPDATE

Progressing well again today. Restoration of service in Baker, Nassau, Charlton, Ware, and Wayne counties are practically 100% restored. Glynn and Brantley counties are 97–98% restored. Camden County (one of our coastal counties) will continue to have the majority of consumers without power. Over 100 of those are on our Cumberland Island circuit and will be the last to be restored. We feel confident 100% of our consumers (including Cumberland Island) will be restored this week. All, except Cumberland Island, tomorrow. Please continue to monitor the progress of the outage restoration on our website www.oremc.com.

Next update 9:00 pm.

HURRICANE MATTHEW UPDATE

Even though our number of consumers without power keeps decreasing at a steady pace, we still presently have 179 separate outages. We were hoping we could release our outside help by the end of the day. However that is not going to happen. We will continue to utilize our contractors and outside EMC employees until service is restored to practically all our consumers. Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday. We intend to keep some contractors to assist with Cumberland Island restoration after that. Please continue to monitor the progress of the outage restoration on our website www.oremc.com.
