Scholarship and Youth Tour Winners Announced

Okefenoke REMC celebrated its annual Youth Awards Banquet, awarding 10 scholarships and selecting four delegates for the annual Youth Tour Leadership Experience in Washington, D.C. This is the 26th year OREMC has awarded scholarships to students residing in one of the eight counties it serves—Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, Ware and Wayne counties in Georgia, and Baker and Nassau counties in Florida. OREMC Employees Recognized for Recent Promotions

Congratulations to LaNancy Moody in the Kingsland office who was recently promoted to senior customer service representative. LaNancy has been with OREMC for 12 years and came to the co-op with a strong customer service background having previously worked in banking, retail and catering operations. In her new role LaNancy is the office supervisor and will soon welcome two new employees—Jennifer Miner who is currently training in Nahunta and a new student worker from Camden County High School. OREMC Coloring Contest for Kids 12 and Under

Okefenoke REMC is celebrating its 80th birthday in 2019 and is inviting its youngest members to join in the fun with a coloring contest. Fellowship of Christian Athletes Appreciative of OREMC Donation

CPTC Foundation Receives OREMC Donation

The Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) Foundation had a Trustee meeting at the Jesup Instructional site on Wednesday, February 27, 2019. After the meeting Wayne Combs, OREMC board president, and Craig Morgan, OREMC board director presented a $2,000 check to the CPTC Foundation. A Familiar Face Bids Adieu: Brenda Rowell Retiring

It means “a bit of everything” and best describes Brenda Rowell’s work history that spans five decades, including 13+ years here at Okefenoke REMC.  A St. Marys, Georgia, native, Brenda, senior customer service representative in OREMC’s Kingsland office, is a familiar face around Camden County with her easy smile and cheery “hello.” But at age 69, she has decided it is time to retire so she can do other things. Inspecting & Updating Our Metering System

The “meter reader” once was as much of an electric utility icon as the lineman, but changes and upgrades in metering technology over the years have minimized human interaction in day-to-day meter reading and power connection/disconnection. The same is true at OREMC. In 2003, we first began transitioning to electronic meters equipped with a two-way automated communication system utilizing our power lines.
