Okefenoke REMC is pleased to welcome Michele Hutchins as its new member communications/marketing coordinator. Hutchins will be working with departments throughout the co-op to identify, develop and implement strategic communications to better inform consumer-members about OREMC’s services, programs and community initiatives.
“We are excited to have Michele join our team,” says Darren Crews, manager, Corporate Support Services. “Michele is an accomplished communications professional who also has cooperative experience, having previously worked in a similar position at New Hampshire Electric Cooperative.”
Crews continues, “Michele’s primary focus will be to improve corporate communication both internally and externally. We recognize the importance of providing members with accurate and timely information—especially in storm situations. Michele’s experience and skill set will enable us to better meet member expectations.”
Hutchins earned her bachelor’s in mass communications/public relations from Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, and her Master of Business Administration from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. She is also a Certified Cooperative Communicator, having earned the credential from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association demonstrating professional competence and detailed knowledge of the cooperative industry.
Prior to joining OREMC, Hutchins most recently worked in marketing at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick. Her previous work experience in New Hampshire includes serving as the director of community relations at Speare Memorial Hospital, director of public relations at Plymouth State University and communications coordinator at New Hampshire Electric Cooperative, Inc.
Hutchins resides in Glynn County with her husband and daughter.
