Okefenoke REMC is celebrating its 80th birthday in 2019 and is inviting its youngest members to join in the fun with a coloring contest. Given OREMC’s service territory is defined by swamps, marshes and wetlands, the coloring contest entry form features a swamp backdrop with Willie WiredHand® riding on a back of an alligator taking in the sights. Willie is the national mascot of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Associations member co-ops, including OREMC.

“As we brainstormed ways to celebrate our communities and our service to them, the Member Services team really wanted a fun way to engage our younger members,” notes Michele Hutchins, OREMC member communications/marketing coordinator. “The coloring page featuring Willie on the back of gator came to life thanks to Denese Proctor, wife of Member Services Representative Royce Proctor in our Hilliard Office. We are excited to see what the kids do with it and then showcase their artwork online, in our newsletter and at our annual meeting in September.”

Children 12 and under, whose parents/guardians are consumer-members of OREMC, are encouraged to color and embellish the coloring page for a chance to win a four-pack of tickets to Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta. Prizes will be awarded to the winner in each of three age groups: 5 and under, 6 to 9 and 10 to 12.

Download the drawing or stop in one of our offices in Nahunta, Kingsland or Hilliard to ask for one. Submitted entries must be completely filled out and received by Friday, May 10. They can be dropped off at one of our offices or mailed to Attn: Michele Hutchins, OREMC, PO Box 602, Nahunta, Ga. 31553.
