Scholarship and Youth Tour Winners Announced

Okefenoke REMC celebrated its annual Youth Awards Banquet, awarding 10 scholarships and selecting four delegates for the annual Youth Tour Leadership Experience in Washington, D.C. This is the 26th year OREMC has awarded scholarships to students residing in one of the eight counties it serves—Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, Ware and Wayne counties in Georgia, and Baker and Nassau counties in Florida. OREMC Coloring Contest for Kids 12 and Under

Okefenoke REMC is celebrating its 80th birthday in 2019 and is inviting its youngest members to join in the fun with a coloring contest. Given OREMC’s service territory is defined by swamps, marshes and wetlands, the coloring contest entry form features a swamp backdrop with Willie WiredHand® riding on a back of an alligator taking in the sights. OREMC Lineworker Earns Journeyman Lineman Certification

Brian Drury of Folkston joined Okefenoke REMC as an apprentice II lineworker in March of 2015, and works out of the co-op’s Hilliard office. After hours of bookwork, nearly four years of on-the-job training and laboratory testing, Drury is celebrating the completion of Northwest Lineman College’s Lineworker Certification Program and his designation as a journeyman lineman. Now Accepting Applications for 2019 National Washington Youth Tour

Terrell Brazell Appointed to OREMC Board of Directors

Terrell Brazell of St. Marys has been appointed to the Okefenoke REMC Board of Directors representing District 9-Southeast Camden County. OREMC Hosts FFA Wiring Competition Practice Session

Okefenoke REMC recently held a practice session for the upcoming South Region FFA Wiring Competition to be held at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton on November 15, leading up to the statewide competition in January 2019. Nine students from six surrounding counties participated in OREMC’s practice session that took place at Brantley Country High School. OREMC Announces New System Operator

Ana Chesser is Okefenoke REMC’s newest system operator in the Cooperative’s control center located at the Nahunta office. She joins Bradley Mobley, James Riggins and Joey Steedley in providing 24/7 coverage of system operations using the new SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system. OREMC Cleans Up After Hurricane Michael
