OREMC Finance Team Welcomes New Accountant
Okefenoke REMC is pleased to welcome Elizabeth Hughes. She joins OREMC’s Finance & Administrative Services team as an accountant responsible for work orders, plant accounting and month-end reporting and reconciliation.
Hughes says OREMC is a change in opportunity for her. She had heard good things about the Co-op and brings experience and expertise in financial programming. Eric Dyal, manager, Finance & Administrative Services, notes, “Elizabeth has knowledge and understanding of financial reporting that is essential to her position, but she also offers a new perspective and experience that can help with streamlining processes and operating efficiencies.”
Graduating from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s in business administration-finance, Hughes began her career in Brunswick at Southeastern Bank as a loan processor. She oversaw the loan side of a core system conversion, and then became the manager of loan operations based out of Darien. Following that she joined PrimeSouth Bank in Waycross, first in loan processing, then becoming a credit analyst. After serving as the interim chief financial officer for a period of seven months, she was promoted to manager of loan operations.
“I enjoy problem solving,” says Hughes. “I take pride in things balancing as I have an authentic interest in the financial well-being of the organization.”
Hughes lives in Blackshear with her husband and daughter.
