" What OREMC Means to Me" Art Contest

August 7th, 2024

Okefenoke REMC is celebrating its 85th birthday in 2024 and is inviting its youngest members to join in the fun with an art contest. This is a chance for children to reflect on how electricity powers their lives every day, electrical safety, to honor lineworkers who restore power and/or maybe inspire them to work for OREMC one day.

Children 12 and under, whose parents/guardians are consumer-members of OREMC, are encouraged to use the OREMC art contest form to create original artwork in the circle. Winning entries will receive four tickets to the Jacksonville Jaguars game on October 6,  have their artwork turned into stickers to be handed out at school events and be featured on our co-op Christmas card. Prizes will be awarded to the winner in each of three age groups: 5 and under, 6 to 9 and 10 to 12.

“Eight-five years ago ‘bringing the lights’ was life changing to our members, but this generation has never known life without electricity, electronics or internet,” explains OREMC Director of Communications & Marketing Michele Hutchins. “We thought it would be fun to give our youngest members the space to reflect on the importance of electricity and the people behind the power. We’re excited to see what they come up with.”

Download the entry form here or stop in one of our offices in Nahunta, Kingsland or Hilliard to ask for one. Submitted entries must be completely filled out and received by Friday, September 6. They can be dropped off at one of our offices or mailed to Attn: Michele Hutchins, OREMC, PO Box 602, Nahunta, Ga. 31553.
